First Photo of the Week beyond the photographic moments on Earth: Total Lunar Eclipse
This is a supermoon (moon at perigee) during a total lunar eclipse. In history times, civilizations viewed eclipses (lunar or solar) as bad omens in which they believed were signs of punishment by the gods resulting in negative events to come. Superstitious events could be diseases, famine, or catastrophic weather. Of course, with science of the last few centuries we fully understood what eclipses were and that such unfortunate events were caused by other factors. In the modern world, we appreciate whenever a lunar or solar eclipse happens. The Super Blood Wolf Moon of 2019 was mesmerizing to observe from beginning to end. Image taken above was at near-peak.
