Light from the Sun travels about 150 million km (93 million miles) through space from Sun to Moon taking an average of 8 minutes 19 seconds, depending on time of year. This light is then reflected by the lunar surface to Earth hitting those branches, the camera, and anywhere else on Earth's nightside taking 1.3 seconds traveling about 385,000 km (240,000 miles) from Moon to Earth, depending on time of month.
